Pentathlon: Five event combo that includes discus, running, wrestling, javelin and jumping.
Discus: Rhythm and precision, according to the Greeks, was just as important as strength. It was made out of stone, iron, bronze, or lead. Also, it was shaped like a flying saucer.
Javelin: Just like today's version. Even the events that they did back then is what we still do today.
Jump: The competitors used lead or stone jump weights called halteres shaped like phone receivers to improve the distance of their jump. Sort of like the modern pole vaulting.
Running: There were 4 types of races. There was the stadion, which competitors sprinted 192 m. The rest are called stades. Their distances are very uncommon. (All in meters): 384, 1344, and 4608. To top it off, they were dressed in knight-like outfits. Imagine what the times were.
